To celebrate Metro: Last Light's 10th Anniversary, the original Complete Edition of the 2013 game will be available for free on from 18-25 May. Immerse yourself in the year 2034 – you are the last light in the darkest hour. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to humanity’s survival. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above. Taking place one year after the events of Metro 2033, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Just to be clear, this is not the same version as Metro: Last Light Redux, which is a remastered version of Last Light that was released back in 2014. As you might expect, the Complete Edition includes the base game, as well as all of the DLC. The official Twitter account for the Metro series posted the announcement earlier today that from May 18 to May 25, players can grab the original Complete Edition of Metro: Last Light on Steam. That’s right, Metro: Last Light will be available for free for a limited time on Steam. With 4A Games’ Metro: Last Light turning the big 1-0 earlier this week (Neil and Jay covered the game on the Safe Room Podcast last week), the developer has decided to give those of you who still haven’t jumped into the Moscow Metro a chance to do so for free. The game will also be available via Xbox Game Pass. 2: Heart of Chernobyl is due out for Xbox Series and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in December 2023. Nevertheless, artefacts of unbelievable value attracted many people called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, who have entered the Zone at their own risk striving to make a fortune out of it, or even to find the truth in the heart of Chernobyl. Violent mutants, deadly anomalies, and warring factions have made the Zone a very tough place to survive. The Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in 2006. 2: Heart of Chernobyl continues the series’ combination of first-person shooter, immersive sim, and horror. This may mean cancellation of the game as 'the future is unknown'. To add to this, on 24 February 2022, GSC Game World announced the Russian invasion of Ukraine. 2 has been delayed until December 2022 citing 'thorough testing and polishing' as reason. The fourth entry in the cult favourite series that began back in 2007, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Unfortunately, on 12 January 2022, GSC Game World announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The trailer is actually a mix of gameplay footage and cutscenes, and aims to “give a better understanding of the adventure beyond.” In addition, pre-orders for Heart of Chernobyl are now available on the game’s official site. A new gameplay trailer for the upcoming shooter has been released, dubbed “Come to Me”. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, the developers keep on plugging away. Despite the turmoil going on in Ukraine and the understandable delay for GSC Game World’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
